The people of Budleigh have come together to enjoy a cream tea and celebrate the 50th anniversary of the East Devon Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.
The AONB holds a special place in the hearts of the town, which is the only town to be wholly inside it, and the Chamber of Commerce is holding three events this summer to mark the anniversary.
The cream tea was supported with Budleigh Salterton Town Council, and held at Fairlynch Museum, with 100 people enjoying a cream tea and live music from Clive Smith and his Arcadian Jazz Band.
Chamber chairman Christine Bentley said: “Everyone declared what a wonderful event it was. All the ingredients were donated or subsidised locally by shops such as Co-op, Spar and Crusty Cob, and the Chamber wishes to thank all involved in making it such a memorable day.”
The chamber is also organising a writing competition for pupils at St Peter’s C of E Primary School and a prize draw to be held in September.
