Topsham people have once again taken to the town’s outdoor swimming pool for the annual New Year’s Day swim.
Since the pool’s heating was upgraded a couple of years ago the swim hasn’t been as chilly a proposition as in previous years, and 415 swimmers turned out to enjoy a dip.
Pool president Cyril Harrison said: “It went brilliantly. “The sun was shining in the morning which made it even better, and we were very busy right up to closing time at 2pm.
“I think because the weather was a bit warmer people seemed to hang around longer than in previous years.
“It was well worth opening, and lots of people enjoyed it.”
The pool will now be closed until it reopens for the summer season on April 27, with refurbishments to disabled facilities and the building’s roof.
