Swimathon to raise pool roof funds

A super swimathon is being held for the St Peter’s School swimming pool appeal – and the public are invited to take part.

The Warm Wish group, which raises funds for the pool, announced last year that it was hoping to raise more than £30,000 for a weatherproof enclosure to replace the existing roof, which is no longer up to the job.

To get this started, the St Peter’s School Association (SPSA) is holding a swimathon at Exmouth Leisure Centre.

It will take place on April 27, between 5pm and 7pm, and organisers are now inviting entries.

Teams must have between four and eight swimmers, all over the age of eight and able to swim 25 metres competently without floating aids.

Entry is free, with swimmers expected to collect sponsorship.

If you don’t fancy swimming, but still want to support the appeal, you can make a direct donation by visiting www.justgiving.com/superswimathon.

The SPSA is also giving businesses the chance to get involved by sponsoring the event, with the offer of an A2 board with the company’s logo being displayed at the swim in return for a £100 donation.

To find out more, contact the SPSA on spsa.budleighsalterton@gmail.com, or visit www.st-peters-school.org.uk/swimathon.
