Hospiscare’s annual Starlight Walk is returning to Exmouth, inviting mothers, daughters, sisters and friends to join a sparkly night of fun.

The 12k walk, starting and finishing at Exmouth Rugby Club, takes place on May 10 at 8.30pm, and is one of the charity’s largest annual fundraising events.

After a zumba warm-up with Exmouth Rugby Club players, those taking part will head off beneath the stars to complete the circular route, taking them along Exmouth’s seafront and cycle path to Budleigh Salterton.

Bacon baps and tea will welcome the walkers back to the rugby club along with chocolate, the friendly faces of supporters, and entertainment from the Exmouth Shanty Men.

Event fundraiser Hannah Slater said: “We are calling on women to join us for a glittering night out with the girls - walking and laughing under the stars at an event to remember.

“This will be the seventh Starlight Walk and it is always such a great event. Great camaraderie in a fantastic location has seen ladies coming back each year to take part in the walk.”

Entry to the Starlight Walk costs £15 and includes a Hospiscare T-shirt, chocolate, tea and a bacon bap.

Anyone wishing to secure their place for the walk now can take advantage of a special offer until tomorrow (Friday).

Hannah said: “The entry fee covers only the cost of the event so we are asking people to please raise sponsorship to support the work of their local hospice nurses.

“We are offering an early-bird special of just £10 to anyone who wants to register for the walk now.

“Women from all walks of life come together each year for the Starlight Walk, getting dressed up in an array of bright colours, tutus and bunny ears to complete the route.

“Some people choose to celebrate the lives of lost loved ones at the event and we will be providing each walker with a memory star which they can dedicate to anyone they have loved. “
