Pupils at St Peter’s Primary School have raised more than £2,000 to help other youngsters. Read this and more.

WELCOMING SERVICE: A service is to be held in St Peter’s Church, Budleigh Salterton, to celebrate the arrival of the parish’s associate priest, the Reverend David Scrace.

Bishop Bob will lead the service at 11am on Sunday, February 26, which will be followed by lunch in the Public Hall.

Numbers for the lunch are limited and free tickets are available from the church wardens and deputies.

EXTENSION BID: Owners of Wynards House, 1 High Street, East Budleigh, have applied to East Devon planners to build a single-storey rear extension.

FORCE FUNDRAISER: FORCE Cancer Charity is looking for people to enter the Bicton “Walk or Ride!” on Sunday, April 29.

There is a choice of five, eight or 12-mile walks or a 14-mile mountain bike ride.

All routes start and finish at Bicton College and take in Woodbury Common, the River Otter and, on the 12-mile walk, Peak Hill and Ladram Bay.

The Rotary Club of Exmouth invites entrants to make a minimum donation of £5 to its charity fund on entering the event. FORCE will receive all the sponsorship money entrants raise.

EFFORTS PRAISED: Pupils at St Peter’s Primary School have raised more than £2,000 to help other youngsters.

The school’s fundraising efforts raised a total of £2,491 for the NSPCC.

Headteacher Malcolm Elliott praised the staff and pupils’ ‘amazing’ efforts and thanked all who gave generously.

SOLAR PLAN: A planning application to install solar panels on an existing garage at Fudge Cottage, Dalditch Lane, Budleigh Salterton, has been submitted with district planners.

MEDICAL CENTRE: The AGM of the Budleigh Salterton Medical Practice’s patient partcipation group is on Wednesday, March 14, at 7pm at the Public Hall.

The meeting is followed, at 7.30pm, by a talk by Carmel Fanconi on the self-management for carers and those living with long-term health conditions

All are welcome.

JUBILEE CASH: The Lord Clinton Charitable Trust will be donating a total of £5,500 to parish and town councils on its estates in East and North Devon to spend on local celebrations or projects to mark the Queen’s Jubilee. Each council will receive £500.

Councillors at Budleigh Salterton Newton Poppleford and Harpford, Beer, Budleigh Salterton Colaton Raleigh, East Budleigh/Bicton, Exmouth, Otterton, Sidmouth and Woodbury in East Devon and Great Torrington and Merton, in North Devon, have all been informed of the gift.

HOLIDAY PARK PLANS: Ladram Bay holiday park’s owners have applied to district planners for retrospective planning permission to change the change of use of land from agricultural use to use as a holiday park. Park owners have also applied to retain existing engineering works. Work has already begun to convert the land to the North West and South West.
