A SECOND national coffee shop chain could be coming to Exmouth.

Rumours of another chain arriving in the town have been rife for the past week or so, and are now gaining strength.

Steve Gazzard, the Liberal Democrat councillor for Exmouth Town Ward, confirmed that workmen have been refurbishing 44 Chapel Street – the old Blockbuster video store in the Magnolia Centre – for new ownership.

Further research indicated that it was likely to be Caffè Nero.

The premises are near to another coffee shop run by rival national chain Costa Coffee.

Caffè Nero’s imminent arrival concerned Cllr Gazzard.

“I think we’re already at saturation point for coffee shops,” he said.

The Journal has contacted Caffè Nero for comment, but so far hasn’t received a reply.

  • AS IF... we need another Coffee Shop. Out with the commercial in with the Local. Had enough of Exmouth being a complete sell-out.
