The newly formed St Peter’s Music Society is preparing for its first concert of the year.

The organisation, which was associated with St Peter’s Church for 20 years, is now independent as of January, and intends to become a registered charity.

Its first concert of 2014 will be on Wednesday, April 30, at 7.30pm at Temple Methodist Church, which will host the society’s first two concerts.

The first performance will be by flautist Rachel Smith, who will be accompanied by Jacob Fichert.

The recital will include a wide variety of works by CPE Bach, Prokofiev, Saint-Saëns, Poulenc and Bizet, as well as a recent work by Paul Lewis written specially for Rachel.

Tickets cost £14, and are available from Lesley’s and The Card Shop Too in Budleigh, Eagle House in The Strand in Exmouth, and Sidmouth Tourist Information Centre.

Tickets are also available via the Phoenix Ticket Agency in Exeter, on 01392 667080, or online at www.stpetersmusic.org.uk. Further enquiries may be made to 01395 442275.
