Vic Bowsher elected chairman.

Vic Bowsher has been elected chairman of the Senior Council for Honiton.

He replaces Tony Smith, who stood down at the end of last year.

Carol Smythe is the council’s new secretary, replacing Tony Simpson, and two new committee members have been named as June Mumford and June Brown.

Shirley Smith is to continue in the role of treasurer until a replacement can be found.

Retiring secretary Mr Simpson said: “The changeover of officers has been painless, seamless and very positive.

“We also have two new enthusiastic committee members.

“We are fortunate to have an excellent team of highly-regarded seniors to take us forward along with a strong membership base.

“I am confident our voice will go from strength to strength on issues that concern our members and Honiton area.”

The council’s next open meeting, a Fairtrade coffee morning, will take place at 10.30am on Wednesday, March 7, at Honiton Methodist Church.

Guest speaker will be Councillor Sharon Pavey.
