Staff at an Exmouth care home are celebrating after it was named as the best in Devon.

Rose Lodge, in Isca Road, a specialist home for people with dementia, has been ranked first in the county, and third out of 2,370 homes in the South West by industry website www.carehome.co.uk

The award was based on the home’s online recommendations from their residents plus friends and relatives of residents.

Home manager Peter de Groot said: “We are very proud of the fact that the award is based on recommendations by residents and their families, as it demonstrates that our residents feel safe and happy, and relatives feel they can trust us to care for their loved ones.

“We are unique in Devon for putting active living at the centre of everything we do.

“Our home has a real buzz and this gives our residents a good reason to get out of bed and enjoy their day.

“We are demonstrating that people with dementia can live active and social lives, and be happy.”

Director of carehome.co.uk Davina Ludlow said: “Rose Lodge has proved that it provides a great service and we’d like to congratulate them on being a top recommended home in the South West.

“It’s a brilliant achievement to be recognised for your hard work but particularly from the people who you work hard for.”
