Rolle meeting

PUBLISHED: 10:42 06 February 2012

In November 2009, there was a well-attended public meeting held at the Town Hall. There was only one topic to be discussed - the future of Rolle College.

From that seminal meeting came two actions. The first was to establish an investment vehicle that could raise funds to purchase part of the site. The second was to negotiate with the University of Plymouth to secure that opportunity.

Both of these objectives have been achieved. Rolle Exmouth Ltd has been established as a community-owned company able to raise capital through shares and, after literally thousands of hours of hard work by volunteers over the last two years, an accord has been reached with the University of Plymouth.

This does not mean that all has been resolved. Far from it.

Now we need everyone in Exmouth and surrounding areas to play their part. Without their support, Rolle College could still disappear underneath houses and flats.

There is a ‘kick-off’ public meeting being held at the Exmouth Pavilion on Thursday, February 2, starting promptly at 7pm. This is a vitally important meeting for Rolle Exmouth Ltd, the Rolle College site and the town of Exmouth.

We have endeavoured to publicise this event as best we can. We urge those interested in the future of Rolle College and Exmouth to attend.

Roger Staker

Managing Director, Rolle Exmouth Ltd.
