A fundraiser on behalf of the RNLI is being held this weekend.
This October Nick Braund will be taking part in the Amsterdam Marathon to raise money for the RNLI.
However, ahead of the big day, Nick, will be training on Exmouth seafront by running a half-marathon on a treadmill outside the Lifeboat Station.
Nick, 25, and his family have always had a long-standing connection with the RNLI.
His Father, Uncle, Grandfather and Great-Grandfather have all worked in the Navy, and subsequently have been dependent on the great work of the RNLI throughout Britain’s waters.
He said: “Having family in the navy means you are forever dependent on the RNLI to be there if anything ever goes wrong
“I want to raise as much money as possible and hopefully by running a half-marathon outside the Lifeboat Station lot of people to see what I’m doing and contribute anything they can to this great cause.”
RNLI Exmouth branch Chairman, Don Hodgkinson, said: “We are pleased to assist Nick in his training for the Amsterdam marathon and wish him well to raise as much money as possible during the event. 83p out of every £1 raised for the RNLI goes directly to the rescue service.”
Nick will be running from 11am on Sunday September 22
