Police are appealing for information relating to a rape investigation
Police have arrested two men on suspicion of raping a woman in Exeter in the early hours of Tuesday morning.
Officers said the men, both aged 23, were interviewed at Heavitree Road police station then released on bail until November 28, while enquiries continue.
Devon and Cornwall police investigating the rape of a woman in a lane that joins Sidwell Street and King William Street, near to St Sidwell’s Church, between 1am and 2am, are appealing for witnesses.
Officers would like to hear from anyone who was in the area at the time of the incident.
A Devon and Cornwall police spokesman said: “This is the early stages of the investigation and there is very little information we can share at this stage.
“Right now detectives will be gathering all the details they can which will include carrying out interviews and forensic analysis.
“I would like to ask for the public’s help though, for anyone who saw or heard anything suspicious in the vicinity of this incident in the early hours of today, no matter how small it might seem to them, to contact us without delay.”
