Police warning over ‘cold callers’

Police have been visiting residents in Exmouth warning them about opening the door to cold callers.

The police patrols were carried out across the force as part of Operation Rogue Trader. A Devon and Cornwall police spokesperson said: “In Exmouth visits have been made to local residents providing advice and a reminder to be wary of cold callers, rogue traders, aggressive sellers and distraction techniques.

“Our advice includes not opening the door unless you know who is calling; using a door chain if you have to open the door; checking the identity of callers and taking time to seek advice before agreeing to any work or signing any paperwork.”
