Police warning after thefts from vehicles

Police are warning motorists to be vigilant after a series of thefts from vehicles in Exmouth.

Three thefts have been reported in recent weeks, where items have been taken from insecure vehicles through open windows or doors.

The three incidents occurred in Albion Hill, The Strand and Salterton Road.

PCSO Nicola Payne said: “It appears that these are opportunist thefts as windows have been left open in hot weather and property has been left on display.

“We would like to remind anyone parking and leaving their vehicles to ensure their windows are closed and doors locked before leaving the vehicle, even for only a short time. One of these thefts occurred while the victim was within sight of their vehicle.

“In addition, take your purse or wallet with you and don’t leave anything of value on display.”
