Police have teamed up with the fire service to run a speed awareness operation in the Budleigh area.
The one-day operation was carried out at a number of locations, including Knowle village, and Budleigh Hill in East Budleigh.
Speeding motorists were stopped and, depending on the speed recorded, either given a fixed penalty ticket, or given the option to join the fire officers to view the consequences of speeding on real-life CCTV footage.
Fire officers then gave safety advice and introduced potential consequences to their actions.
PCSO Chantalle Major said: “Three motorists were stopped in Knowle and over 10 were stopped on Budleigh Hill in the short time we were there.
“They all were shown the hard-hitting film and we could visibly see they had taken the message on board.”
Police hope to repeat the operation regularly throughout the year.
