PLANS PULLED: Plans to build a new home in Budleigh Salterton have been withdrawn by the applicant.

The plan was to build a two-storey home at 2 Clinton Close.

Budleigh Salterton Town Council has previously voted to oppose the application.

BLOOM TALK: An illustrated talk on the East Devon countryside featuring the work of a Victorian artist is being hosted by East Budleigh in Bloom.

The talk is being given by East Devon Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty community project officer Phil Planel.

It is entitled “In the footsteps of Peter Orlando Hutchinson, a Victorian countryman and watercolourist – 150 years of change, East Devon’s countryside then and now”.

The talk, which will feature many of Hutchinson’s paintings of landscapes, takes place at the village hall on Wednesday, March 6, at 7.30pm.

Admission costs £3, and all proceeds will go to East Budleigh in Bloom.

NEW HOME: Plans have been submitted to build a new home with a car port on land to the rear of Little Holt in Church Road, Colaton Raleigh.

The parish council will now consider the plan, before East Devon District Council makes the final decision.

FESTIVAL MEETING: The organisers of the Otterton Church Flower Festival and Art Exhibition are holding their first meeting of the year.

Anyone who is interested in helping out with the event is invited to go along to the meeting, which is being held at the church next Tuesday (February 26) at 2.30pm.

The event itself will be held between June 20 and June 23, with setting up to take place the day before.

COFFEE MORNING: A coffee morning to raise money for Christian Aid is being held in Budleigh Salterton.

It takes place at the Peter Hall on Saturday, March 2, between 10am and noon.

Admission costs £1 including coffee, and there will also be a Traidcraft stall, bric-a-brac and cake stall available.

SCILLY TALK: A fundraising talk is being held in Budleigh Salterton in aid of Exeter Leukaemia Fund.

The talk, “An Island Paradise”, is being given by Mike Nelhams, the curator of Tresco Abbey garden on the Isles of Scilly.

The event will be staged at Budleigh Salterton Public Hall on Saturday, March 2, at 2.30pm. Entry costs £5, and refreshments and a raffle will be available.

Tickets are available from the Garden Shop in Station Road, and from Otter Nurseries, Kings Garden Centre in Exmouth, B Natural in Exmouth, the ELF office at the Royal Devon and Exeter Hospital, and on the door on the day.

ADVENTURE SHOW: The Budleigh Salterton Adventure Group is staging a show in aid of Budleigh Hospiscare and the NSPCC.

Robin Hood and the Babes in the Wood will be staged tomorrow (Friday) and Saturday at Temple Methodist Church, starting at 7.30pm.

Admission is £5 for adults and £2 for children.
