A planning application to demolish an Exmouth restaurant to make way for 10 new dwellings has been submitted.

Pub company Punch Taverns has entered the proposal to knock down the Spice Lounge, in Prince of Wales Drive, and create a mix of houses and flats.

If given the go-ahead, there will be seven two-bedroom houses, two two-bedroom flats and a single one-bedroom flat on the site of the Indian restaurant near Dinan Way.

According to the plans, the plot will comprise a ‘terrace’ of even houses and a separate block of flats.

There would also be 19 car parking spaces. The current restaurant currently has 40 bays.

Exmouth Town Council is due to discuss the application at its planning committee meeting on Tuesday (April 3).

East Devon District Council will make the final decision on the application.
