Exmouth Christmas Day Swimmers take to the water

A short chorus of ‘We Wish You a Merry Christmas’ signalled the start of the Christmas Day swim in Exmouth as just before 11am hundreds sprinted down the sandy beach and into the sea. Watched by thousands of spectators, the swimmers had a fair run across the beach due to the low tide but on reaching the water many dived straight in. Fancy dress was the order of the day for many of those taking part which added to the spectacle of the popular event.
