Over 65s told to get flu vaccines and other news

The NHS recommend that if you are over the age of 65 you should be vaccinated against flu annually. Read this and more.

LABYRINTH: A workshop of creative movement and dance with children aged eight to 12 takes place on Saturday, October 13, from 10am to 11am at the Bicton College Labyrinth.

The labyrinth is a short walk through a garden and down a path away from Bicton on the RHS in a ‘secret’ location. Sue-Claire Morris helped pioneer the labyrinth with a group of foundation degree environmental education students in 2010. It costs £3 each participant or donation.


AGM: The rescheduled AGM of the Budleigh Salterton Medical Centre Patient Participation Group takes place at the Public Hall, on Wednesday, October 10, at 7pm.

Guest speaker at the event will be Mr David Jameson Evans, FRCS, Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon from Exeter. Visitors are invited to attend the AGM to learn more about the Patient Participation Group in improving the quality of services offered at the medical centre or go along to listen to the distinguished guest speaker. Everyone is welcome. No tickets required.


FLU CLINICS: The NHS recommend that if you are over the age of 65 or suffer from diabetes, asthma, bronchial problems or heart and kidney problems you should be vaccinated against flu annually.

Anyone under the age of 65 who is eligible will be invited to attend a flu clinic by letter. If you are unsure please contact the surgery directly on 01395 441234 after 10am. Dates are: Saturday, October 13 8.30am – 10.30am, Saturday, October 20: 8.30am – 10.30 am Wednesday, October 31, noon – 1.15pm.
