More than 450 runners gathered in Otterton for the village’s annual charity reindeer run on Saturday (December 2).

Runners aged from three to 73 donned festive outfits for a 10k and 3k run through the lower Otter Valley.

The run raised around £3,000 for Otterton Church of England School Association (OCESA).

Among the participants supporting the event, were the ‘Raleigh Reindeers’, a team of young runners from the Raleigh Federation, of Otterton and Drakes primary schools.

Organisers said the event, which set off from St Michael’s Church, along a multi-terrain course, finishing on the village green was a huge success.

“It was an absolutely brilliant day,” said race director John Hiles.

“We were really delighted with the turnout, attracting more than 100 more people than last year, and would like to thank everyone who came along to take part or spectate for supporting the event, especially those who ran in Reindeer Run T shirts, antlers or a festive costume.”
