16:04 13 May 2014

A person has been killed and several injured in a coach crash believed to involve a party from Exmouth Age Concern.

The incident has happened on the A387 at Morval, around three miles from Looe in Cornwall, the town an Exmouth party was due to visit today.

Pauline Gaunt from the Confederation of Passenger Transport, speaking on behalf of Exeter coach operator Carmel, confirmed it was an Age Concern coach, believed to be from Exmouth.

Police say they were called to the incident at around 1pm today, in which the coach collided with a hedge, and have declared it a major incident.

Police say one person, a passenger, has died from injuries sustained in the collision.

There are known to be a number of other casualties who are also passengers, but police say the severity of their injuries is not known at this time.

The coach was carrying around 40 people, who police say are all believed to be aged in their 60s and over.

Fire and ambulance crews were also called to the scene.
