We take a look through the Exmouth Journal photo archives of the Exmouth working docks.

The Exmouth working dock used to be the centre of activity for the town. We take a look at photographs found in the Journal’s archive of this once thriving part of Exmouth.

Built in 1865, the Exmouth working dock at the west end of the seafront saw all types of goods landed and loaded by ships from all over the world.

These pictures provide a glimpse into the latter years of Exmouth’s docks, right up to when the last ship left in 1989.

Do you remember the former working docks? We would love to see your old photos and hear about your memories from this period in the town’s history. You can send your photos to us by visiting our image-sharing website - iwitness24.co.uk and uploading them to the East Devon ‘nostalgia’ group. You can also get in touch by emailing us at: curatorsouthwest@archant.co.uk.
