New cycle rack locations proposed for town

Members of Budleigh Salterton Town Council have come up with four sites which they say could be suitable for new cycle racks in the town.
The council has received an offer from engineering firm Jacobs, on behalf of Devon County Council, to have four racks installed in the town at the county council’s expense, writes Sean Keywood.
When the town council considered this in January, councillors said they did not want to take up the offer proposed at that time, as they felt several of the proposed locations were unsuitable.
Now, its foreshores and footpaths committee has discussed the matter, and come up with four alternative sites.
These are on the seafront path between Lime Kiln car park and the East End Kiosk, further along the footpath by the wall next to the Jubilee shelter, behind the Public Hall (with its location well signposted), and on the coastal path in front of the Rolle Flats.
Although the committee has made these recommendations, no final decision has yet been taken, with the full town council being asked to rubber-stamp the plan at its meeting on Monday.
If it does so, the town council will then go back to the county council with its preferred sites.
