New, temporary facilities for Exmouth Beach Rescue Club have been approved by East Devon District Council.
The club has come up with proposals to install two shipping containers behind its headquarters in Foxholes car park, to provide equipment storage and changing facilities.
The extra space is needed due to the club’s expanding membership.
East Devon District Council has granted permission for the containers to be installed for three years, with the hope that by then the club will be able to move to new, permanent facilities.
Councillor Vivien Duval-Steer said: “Beach Rescue [membership] is increasing all the time.
“They are a wonderful organisation and hopefully within three years they will get their proper building.”
