Just four days after 19,000 homes experienced a power cut, nearly 5,000 homes were left without power on Tuesday, February 13.

Nearly 5,000 homes were without power this morning (Tuesday, February 13) after a second cable fault within four days.

Thousands of homes in the town experienced another power outage just days after 19,000 homes were plunged into darkness.

According to Western Power Distribution (WPD), the electricity was cut off at around 5am and returned to 94 per cent of customers within an hour.

The remaining households were switched onto alternative supply by 6.25am this morning.

A WPD spokesperson said: “That was in relation to an underground cable fault.”

WPD engineers will be carrying out repairs on the cable this week.
