Funding from The Prince’s Trust has led to new business venture, Taylor Made Nails, opening in Exeter Road last Saturday.

National and regional chains like Stead and Simpson and Stokes may be shutting up shop in Exmouth, but local entrepreneurs are increasingly deciding to realise their business dreams and go it alone.

Taylor Made Nails was opened by town ward member and district councillor Steve Gazzard and town crier, Roger Bourgein.

This new venture is the brainchild of Emma Taylor, 26, her mum Jenny Taylor and family friend, Karrie Woodley. Emma started a mobile business three years ago with cash help from The Prince’s Trust following career advice from the now-closed Connexions in Exeter Road. It was such a success it has now led to her opening her own salon.

Emma said: “I have lived in Exmouth for 10 years and thought the time was right to branch out and have my own salon.”

The open day included champagne and cup cakes for visitors and a complementary 15-minute beauty session.

Councillor Gazzard said: “With all the recent shop closures in Exmouth it is extremely refreshing to announce the opening of a new business in Exmouth.”

The salon offers a full range of treatments; the list varies from minx, shellac, acrylics, manicures, pedicures to Holistic treatments to name a few.
