Miss Devon 2014, Budleigh’s Hayley Wood, is once again preparing to plunge into a bath of baked beans for charity.

Hayley, 21, previously took a bean bath at the Salterton Arms in her home town while she was doing charity fundraising ahead of the Miss Devon contest.

Having won that event – partly thanks to the amount of money she raised for charity – and gained entry to the Miss England final, Hayley, a psychology student at Swansea University, is hoping to repeat the feat, this time for Miss World charity Beauty with a Purpose.

However, whereas before she was snug in her local pub, this time Hayley, who lives in Marine Parade, will be taking to the beans in front of shoppers at Exeter’s Princesshay shopping centre this Saturday.

She said: “Fundraising is a massive part of Miss England, and I’m trying to raise money in a way that’s a bit different, and will draw attention.”

Hayley added that she has seen reports of hailstorms heading for the UK this weekend, and will have a tent standing by in case of an icy onslaught.

The bean bath will take place at noon, in the courtyard area outside Debenhams.

If you won’t be there but would like to donate, Hayley is also fundraising online at http://uk.virginmoneygiving.com/MissDevon2014HayleyWood.

The Miss England final will be in Torquay next weekend.
