Exmouth police are appealing for help tracing the ‘mindless thug’ who punched a disabled man in an unprovoked attack.

Officers said the ‘vulnerable adult’ with severe learning disabilities was set upon for no reason by a cyclist thought to be in his early 20s.

Police community support officer Chris Ball is appealing for anyone who may have witnessed the attack, which occurred close to the taxi rank near Lidl, on Dinan Way, at 6.30pm on Friday, July 20.

PCSO Ball said: “It was an unprovoked attack by a mindless thug at a relatively busy period of the working day.

“It was in full view of other members of the public. Somebody must have seen something.”

The police have released a description of the man they would like to speak to about the attack.

Officers said he cycled off down the hill after punching the disabled man.

He is described as being white, in his late teens or early 20s, with blond hair.

The man was wearing a brown jacket and riding a mountain bike.

If you have any information about the attack, contact PCSO Ball on 101, quoting crime reference KE/12/1689.
