Lympstone’s Military Wives Choir is heading back into the spotlight with the upcoming launch of their second album.

The choir has joined other choirs from across the UK and Europe to record Stronger Together, the follow-up to the number one album In My Dreams.

On the new album, the Lympstone singers perform a cover of Rule the World by Take That, and join the other singers on mass-choir songs Stronger Together and Sing.

The Lympstone singers have also been to London to film the video for Stronger Together alongside more than 600 other singers, breaking a world record for the biggest ever video shoot in music history, and also helping to launch the Military Wives Choirs Foundation, set up to support the rapidly expanding choir network.

Lympstone choir chairman Paula Mundy said: “The day was absolutely fantastic. It was a very long day, and there was a lot of standing around, but when we had a practise just singing the song, the sound of it was amazing, and it made you feel wonderful that all these women had come to do this.”

The Lympstone choir recorded their parts of the album at the Commando Training Centre, with one of their number, Laura Howard, being chosen to sing the solo on Stronger Together.

Laura, who joined too late to sing on the first album, was nominated by musical director Sam Abrahams following auditions.

Laura said: “I felt overwhelmed, and also very honoured and very privileged to be chosen, because it’s an awesome group of women who are very talented.”

Paula said: “It’s exciting for us to be involved in another album, and for the choir song, everybody loves Take That and we all knew the song, so we really enjoyed doing that.”

Paula also thanked Goldsmiths in Exeter, which has given each of the singers a Swarovski necklace.

The Lympstone choir will be the star attraction in a gala concert at Exeter University on October 27, alongside the Chivenor Military Wives Choir which starred in last year’s The Choir TV series.

The concert is being organised by Sam Abrahams, and will also feature the South West Telecoms Brass Band.

Tickets are available from www.lalachoirs.co.uk, and money will be raised for Rethink Mental Illness.

The Military Wives album will be released on November 5.
