A talk by a former Met Office forecaster is being held in Budleigh. Read this and more.
BALCONY BACKED: Plans to add a balcony to an East Budleigh home have been supported by Budleigh Salterton Town Council.
The plan concerns Dalditch Lodge in Dalditch Lane, and councillors, who were consulted as the adjoining parish, said they had no objections.
East Devon District Council will now rule on the plans.
MET MAN SPEAKS: A talk by a former Met Office forecaster is being held in Budleigh.
“World Events and the Weather” is being given by Nick Ricketts at the Peter Hall on Monday, with doors opening at 7pm for a 7.30pm start.
It is being jointly presented by the Otter Valley Association and Fairlynch Museum.
Admission is £1.50 for members and £3 for non-members.
RE-ROOFING: A scheme to re-roof Colaton Raleigh’s Woods Village Shop have been submitted to East Devon District Council.
The council will now rule on planning permission.
GARAGE ‘NO’: A proposal to add a garage to a Budleigh home has been opposed by town councillors.
The council’s planning committee voted five to four to oppose the plan for 5A Cliff Terrace.
East Devon District Council will now make the final decision.
SPRING SHOW: Otterton Garden Club is holding its spring show this Saturday (March 16).
The event takes place at the village hall between 2pm and 4.30pm, followed by a prize-giving. Refreshments will also be available from 2.30pm. Admission is 50p for adults and free for children.
There will then be a talk at the village hall on Tuesday (March 19), given by Dr David Allen at 7.30pm, with admission free for members and £3 for non-members.
BEACH CARE: The Otter Valley Association is hosting a talk on a project that aims to reduce marine and beach litter and improve the quality of bathing water.
The talk on the BeachCare project will be given by Neil Hembrow from Devon and Cornwall BeachCare and Matilda Bark from Dorset BeachCare.
It will take place next Wednesday (March 20) at the Masonic Hall in Budleigh, at 7.30pm.
TIMBER GARAGE: Budleigh Salterton Town Council has backed plans to build a timber garage at 7 Bedlands Lane.
Planning officers at East Devon District Council will now consider the scheme.
BUN FUN: Temple Methodist Church is holding a coffee and hot cross buns morning. It takes place at the church hall this Saturday (March 16) from 10.30am to noon. The cost is £1.50, and money raised will go to the school at Beit Sahour in Palestine, which the church supports.
CHANGE OF USE: An application to change the use of a property in Budleigh has been supported by the town council.
The plan is for Otter Holt at 37 Granary Lane to be used as holiday accommodation.
East Devon District Council will have the final say on the plan.
