A man has been hospitalised after being rescued at the foot of cliffs at Orcombe Point.
The incident happened on Friday evening, at 7.52pm, and prompted a major rescue operation, which saw Exmouth Coastguard, Exmouth RNLI, and paramedics called to assist Devon and Cornwall Police.
The man, in his early thirties, was flown to the Royal Devon and Exeter Hospital by police helicopter, which landed on the beach.
An Exmouth Coastguard spokesman said: “On arrival, police, paramedics and the inshore lifeboat crew were assisting the casualty whilst police helicopter NPAS44 lit up the area.
“The casualty was eventually evacuated after the police helicopter landed.
“Exmouth Coastguard Rescue Team wish the casualty well and a speedy recovery.”
