Lympstone villagers have started a petition to try and get Devon County Council to do something about road safety in the village.

YES TO HOME: Plans to build a new home in Withycombe have been approved by East Devon District Council.

The plan is for an attached house to be built at 2 Dukes Crescent.

District councillor Geoff Chamberlain had objected to the scheme, saying the site was too cramped, but members of the council’s development management committee saw no problem.

ROAD SAFETY DRIVE: Lympstone villagers have started a petition to try and get Devon County Council to do something about road safety in the village.

They are calling for speed restrictions and traffic-calming measures, especially near the school.

The petition is available at the village post office and the village shop.

-----

OFFICE ‘NO’: Plans to extend a town centre office have been refused by East Devon District Council.

The plan was to build an infill extension above the office of Baines and Co in Rolle Street, to allow the firm to expand.

However, planning officers rejected the scheme, saying it would be “visually incongruous” and would reduce light to a neighbouring property.

CONGRATULATIONS: Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service has congratulated Tony Hogg on his election as Police and Crime Commissioner for Devon and Cornwall.

Authority chairman Mark Healey said he was looking forward to working closely with Commodore Hogg.
