Visitors to Budleigh Salterton Playhouse are in for an even better viewing experience, after the theatre received a grant from the National Lottery.
The Salterton Drama Club has received a £4,500 grant for refurbishments, including new chairs, flooring and carpet.
The grant will cover most of the work, although the project will cost slightly more than thought as the floor was found to be in far worse shape than the club had suspected.
Volunteers from the club’s membership have done most of the work, and the club said it would like to thank Roy Miles, Elaine Wilson, David and Rosemary Holt and Jeff Lees, along with professionals, carpenter and joiner Richard Gomm and Exe Mills Carpets.
The next public use of the theatre will be a workshop on September 20 as part of Budleigh Salterton Literary Festival, with the club’s next show The Happiest Days Of Your Life from November 24 to 29.
