A pair of Exmouth entrepreneurs have opened up a new vintage and ‘up-cycled’ homewares store.

Following years of peddling their wares at vintage fairs, Liz Candelent and June Harman unveiled ‘A Little Bird Told Me…’ at 1 Queens Court.

The new store was opened by town crier Roger Bourgein on Saturday, and they stock homewares, ‘up-cycled’ furniture, cushions, upholstery and collectables.

They will also be holding a series of craft workshops including a knitting workshop on Fridays.

Both Liz and June will be holding the workshops - Liz’s forté is floral arrangements, knitting and embroidery while June specialises in soft furnishings and upholstery.

Liz said: “It’s really exciting; it is a dream come true to have my own shop after years in craft fares.

“I suppose it is quite a brave thing to do in the current economic climate.

“But we recognise that people don’t have a lot of money and we try to keep our costs down and prices affordable.

“We are also holding workshops. It’s not only about bringing people into the shop but it’s also about community and bringing people together. In the holidays we hope to start up workshops for young people as well, teaching old skills like finger knitting amongst other things.”

Call 07719 323520 or go to Facebook ‘A Little Bird Told Me…’ for more information about workshops.
