A WORLD-War Two themed event in Littleham at the weekend raised £132 for Prostate Cancer UK.
Organised by Jennifer French – in memory of her much-loved late husband John, who died from the disease in 2012 – the “Tea For Victory” party was at the Bidmead Community Centre on Saturday, August 3.
“We had a lovely afternoon and it was great fun,” said Jennifer.
Exmouth Museum lent Jennifer a number of World War Two artefacts, including a child’s suitcase, showing the sort of items – such as a teddy bear – that children took with them when they were evacuated from the cities.
A CD of an air raid helped to set the scene.
“It really got you into the mood of things, the sound of it, going on and on,” said Jennifer. “It helped you to picture what it felt like at the time.”
Jennifer is continuing her fund-raising efforts for Prostate Cancer UK next Sunday (August 11) with an information stand at the Jurassic Classic.
The charity cycle ride – in aid of Prostate Cancer UK – starts and finishes at Exmouth Rugby Ground, kicking off at 7am.
