Exmouth RNLI’s new offshore lifeboat was called out yesterday (Sunday) to assist a fishing boat taking on water.

The R and J Welburn was tasked by Portland Coastguard to help the stricken vessel at 11.22am.

The crew of the 12m fishing boat had discovered a faulty hose was causing their engine room to flood quickly and they had called for help using their VHF radio.

The fault was rectified by the fishing boat crew and the vessel was again fit to continue fishing.

Sidmouth independent lifeboat and the Coastguard 106 helicopter were also tasked to the incident.
