Budding entrepreneurs who want the chance to start up a deckchair hire business on Exmouth beach have until February 24 to apply.

East Devon District Council is offering a deckchair concession for the next two summers.

As well as the concession rights to hire out 400 deckchairs along the packed sea front, the successful operator will be offered a lease on the council’s deckchair store building.

The building provides winter storage space for the deckchairs as well as a workshop area that would, potentially, be suitable for a variety of uses.

The concession rights are for the seasons 2012 and 2013, and are operable between April 1 through to September 30 in each year.

The operator will be chosen through a tender process, scheduled to end on Friday, February 24, 2012.

Interested applicants should contact East Devon District Council’s Estates and Economic Development Department on 01395 571588.
