Liberal Democrat Ian Brownbill is the newest member of Exmouth Town Council, after winning a by-election in the Town ward.
Mr Brownbill won the election, held yesterday, with 238 votes, ahead of Labour candidate David Gwilliam (176), who beat Conservative candidate Colin Rogers (131) into third place.
Independent candidate Tim Cope (111) came fourth.
658 ballot papers were issued, with two voided, making a turnout of 14.1 per cent.
Mr Brownbill’s election means the political make-up of the council is unchanged, as he takes the seat vacated by Lib Dem Will McConnell.
Despite Mr Rogers’ third place finish in this poll, the Conservatives still control the town council, with 13 councillors.
There are 11 Lib Dems, and one independent.
