These photos show how Ladram Bay’s luxury, new, top-of-the-range development is taking shape.

The first Portland View luxury lodge was craned into place on Saturday, watched by Ladram Bay’s directors and Frank Carter, who founded the park in 1943 and ran the business until his retirement in 2007 - just prior to his 90th birthday.

Once complete, the new development will boast 42 luxury lodges, which Ladram Bay said will be built to ‘the highest standards’ and set in a private landscaped field. The new development is due for completion at the beginning of May and lodges will be available for rent or to buy.

Ladram Bay hopes the new development will help the park achieve its goal of changing its four-star status to five-star.

The privately-owned park, at Otterton, was in 2011, crowned winner of the Best Holiday Park in Britain, as voted for by Hoseasons holidaymakers.
