Police are urging residents to keep doors locked following an opportunist burglary in Brixington.
Officers said cash was stolen from a purse at a home in Churchill Road by a burglar who walked in through an open door.
Police community support officer Chris Ball said: “There was a walk-in burglary in Churchill Road. Money was taken from a purse and the purse left behind.”
The officer reminded residents to safeguard their homes, even when inside the property.
PCSO Ball said: “Police urge residents to keep doors locked even when at home as burglars will take advantage of open doors when the opportunity arises.”
The PCSO said the burglary took place on Tuesday, September 18, between 8.30pm and 10pm.
Police are asking anyone with information about the crime, or who may have seen someone acting suspiciously in the area at the time, to get in touch on 101, quoting crime reference number KE/12/2215.
