Budleigh Salterton is crossing its fingers after welcoming back the South West in Bloom judges to the town.

The judges were casting their eye over the town’s blooms, after months of preparation by Budleigh in Bloom volunteers, with help from many others including businesses, allotment holders, and St Peter’s School.

Budleigh in Bloom chairman Bob Wiltshire said: “The judges were very impressed with the quality of the planting. The judges seemed to be very pleased with Budleigh, and we are quietly confident that we will get our gold award back this year.

“If we don’t, it must always be remembered that we are not just doing this for the judges of South West in Bloom – we are doing it for Budleigh.”

The South West in Bloom results will be announced in Trowbridge on September 18.
