DRINK DRIVE allegation: On December 27 a local man was arrested for suspected drink-driving and is now on police bail.

SIGN: Town planners have backed plan by Lloyds Bank in Budleigh High Street to replace their existing sign with an illuminated one.

Planning chairman Dick Mitchell said: “It would be the same size. I don’t think we have any grounds to refuse it.”

The plans will be considered by East Devon District Council.

CRIME: Between December 17 and January 19, 11 crimes were recorded and five ‘non crime domestics’.

A total of 26 Incident logs were created over the same period.

Eight were road related, six categorized as ‘concern for welfare’ and six were domestic.

One was ‘crime related’, due to an alarm being sounded, two were drug-related and two were for anti-social behaviour.

ROOF: The refurbishment a roof and the replacement of three roof lights and work on ceilings at Rosehill, 30 West Hill, have been supported by town planners.

Councillor Tom Wright said: “The current roof lights clearly do need work therefore I would support the application.”

The plans will be considered by East Devon District Council.

VANDALISM: The Wendy House and the new picnic table, paid for from the Jubilee Fund, have been vandalised in Otterton playground.

The table has been broken beyond repair, and has been removed and the incident reported to the police.

FRONT GARDEN BID: Plans for a new pitched roof over the garage and front infill extension at 16 Northview Road Budleigh Salterton have been submitted.

The plans will be considered by district planners.

CHAINSAW WARNING: Police say men have been calling on properties trying to sell chainsaws and other equipment in the Budleigh area.

PCSO Sarah Trayhurn said: “Police are aware and the males have been spoken to and trading standards made aware.”

SPEEDWATCH: Two speed watch sessions have been carried out in Otterton over the last two weeks.

No drivers were caught speeding during this time.

CRICKET: The International Cricket Academy was launched at Bicton College last week. Clubs from all over Devon turned out to the launch.
