People who want to join Topsham Film Society can now do so online. Read this and more.

COFFEE AT MUSEUM: Topsham Museum is holding a coffee morning.

It takes place on Tuesday, August 21, between 10am and noon.

Games and stalls will be available, and admission will cost £2, including coffee and biscuits.

CRAFT FAIR: An arts and craft fair is being held at Matthews Hall on Sunday (August 12) from 1pm to 4pm.

A range of vintage glassware, ceramics, artwork, jewellery and goods will be available.

BELL-RINGING: Topsham people are being encouraged to try out bell-ringing.

Topsham Bellringers, who practise at St Margaret’s Church, says newcomers are welcome to join the team and learn to ring.

Practices take place on Thursdays at 7.45pm, and anyone interested can simply turn up on the night.

ART SHOW: There is still time to attend Topsham Art Group’s summer exhibition before it finishes this weekend.

The exhibition, which is being held at Topsham School, is opening between 10am and 5.40pm today (Thursday), tomorrow and Saturday, and between 10am and 12.30pm on Sunday.

PHOTO CONTEST: Time is running out to enter this year’s Topsham Allotments and Gardens Society photography competition.

The closing date for entries is this Saturday, and entry forms are available from Topsham News and Topsham Bookshop.

Entries will be displayed at St Nicholas Church on Saturday, August 18, from 10am to 1pm, when the winners will be revealed.

The photos will then be displayed at Topsham Library from August 21 to September 1.

COFFEE MORNING: Clyst St Mary Church is holding its monthly coffee morning.

It takes place this Saturday between 10am and 11.30am. Coffee, biscuits and stalls will be available.

HAVE YOUR SAY: Topsham residents are being asked to give their views on changes to council tax benefits.

The Government is abolishing the existing council tax benefit scheme, with responsibility passing to local councils from next April.

Now Exeter City Council has launched a consultation on how it should handle the change – with details available online at www.exeter.gov.uk/ctsupport

The closing date for responses is Monday, October 1.

WINE VISIT: A “wine safari” to a local vineyard is being organised by Darts Farm.

The event will see guests meet at Darts Farm, and journey to Pebblebed Vineyard, where they will enjoy a wine tasting, a picnic and a tour of the vineyard.
