NOW in its fourth year, the Budleigh Jazz Festival (April 18-21) has always tried to offer something for all tastes… even those who aren’t too keen on jazz.

This year is no exception, with shows from two female singers with wide appeal.

On Friday, April 19, versatile vocalist Georgina Jackson presents “Big Band Singers”, accompanied by the Jim Watson Quartet.

The singer – who also plays trumpet – has been featured on radio, backed by the BBC Band, and on TV at the Royal Albert Hall, accompanied by the John Wilson Orchestra. “She is an extremely versatile singer, reminiscent of the late, great Peggy Lee,” said festival organizer Tony Dealler.

Elaine Delmar – who gave an “outstanding” performance at the festival in 2010 – is back on Monday, April 21.

Accompanied by the Brian Dee Quartet, Elaine will be performing standards from the Great American Songbook. “From George Gershwin to Cole Porter, Harold Arlen and Richard Rodgers, Elaine knows them all, and you will hear every word,” said Tony Dealler.

Both concerts start at 7.30pm, in Budleigh Public Hall.

Tickets are £15 (Georgina Jackson) and £17.50 (Elaine Delmar).

A full festival weekend ticket is £60.

Tickets are available from: The Card Shop Too, High Street, Budleigh Salterton (01395 446767) or Tony Dealler, Shire House, Cricket Field Lane, Budleigh Salterton EX9 6PB (01395 446524).
