As part of Heath Week 2018, Devon Wildlife Trust held an event at Bystock Ponds with the aim of raising awareness of the beauty spot and the species that call it their home.

On the day, children were able to enjoy pond dipping, bug hunting, creative crafts, and den building, as well as fun nature reserve trails, with guided walks for adults.

Officers from East Devon District Council’s countryside team were also on hand for the event to share their knowledge.

Jan Coman, of Devon Wildlife Trust, hoped the event would encourage a few of the younger visitors to become tomorrow’s wildlife champions.

She added: “It makes people aware of the beautiful reserve they have.

“It’s a way for families to being along their children and get them introduced to nature.”
