Exmouth Mussels has appeared on TV after filmcrews from Channel 4 and ITV filmed the dockside business as part of two shows.
The team at Exmouth Mussels have become TV stars thanks to current Channel 4 series Three Hungry Boys stopping off in the town on their food find quest.
Television chef Hugh Fernley-Whittingstall last summer set friends Tim Cresswell, Thom Hunt and Trevor Brinkman a challenge to travel from River Cottage, in Axminster, to Lands End without food or money.
Exmouth Mussels owner Myles Blood Smyth and his team were filmed when the boys dropped into the dockside businesses in the hope of scoring some of the award-winning mussels.
Mr Blood Smyth said the team had been ‘delighted to help’ the trio of University of Plymouth marine biology students.
He said: “It was fun. They came out and played in the mud a bit and caught themselves some food.
“They looked pretty relieved to catch some. They were pretty hungry.
“I enjoyed filming it and I quite enjoyed watching it.”
Exmouth Mussels also recently appeared on ITV’s The Hungry Sailors.
The father and son team Dick and James Strawbridge, who sail around the south coast of the UK meeting local food producers and cooking together, tickled some mussels before cooking them.
