How about this?

PUBLISHED: 07:00 23 February 2013

May I ask Mr McQueen to add another category to the Exmouth Business Awards (that’s if he has time with nominations pouring in so steadily).

I feel there’s been one sector of shops in Exmouth that have been sadly overlooked in these so prestigious proceedings.

A sector of shops that have truly flourished in recent years to such an extent that during the summer months they attract special coach trips from far and wide.

A sector of shops that have come intrinsic to the name of Exmouth as the golden beach.

A sector of shops without which Exmouth would resemble a ghost town rather than a holiday resort.

Yes indeed, I think it only right that we should have an award for best charity shop .

Now, I know some people might think it rather bad taste to include these shops in such a prestigious night of back slapping and pomp, but let’s remember they do perform an extremely valuable service to many people at these hard times and always have done (that’s probably why we have so many of them) and why they don’t pay full rates on their premises.

I believe something is better than nothing and as already said, better a charity shop than a empty shop .

So how about it, Mr McQueen, Exmouth Chamber of Trade and Commerce and the Journal a little bit of recognition that those whom, in many cases, give up their time and belongings for free .

PS note to editor

I would appreciate it that you publish this letter in full or not at all, without doing your usual hatchet job when there’s the slightest criticism towards your publication.
