Many patients depend upon Hospiscare’s volunteers to get them to and from important appointments, such as hospital.

The charity’s income generation and support assistant, Lucy Goddard, said: “If you would like to really make a difference, we would love to hear from you.”

Lucy explained the system is flexible and worked around volunteers’ free time, with mileage reimbursed.

One volunteer said: “The patients you meet will inspire you to be more appreciative of what you have in your own life. If you want to put something back into your community, then go for it.”

Budleigh Salterton & District Hospiscare is a local, independent charity, providing support to patients with progressive, life-limiting conditions. People who are interested in the role can call 01395 445876 or email office@hospiscare.org
