Hanged man was depressed

08:29 26 November 2012

A Lympstone man, who was found hanged in his home, had been suffering from depression, an inquest has heard.

John Walker, 56, of Marsh Path Cottage, was last seen by his former partner on June 6 this year.

When she then went to his house on June 13, she saw him through the letter box, and alerted a nearby shopkeeper, who found Mr Walker hanged.

The inquest, sitting at County Hall, heard that a GP’s report said Mr Walker had suffered from depression, and a note found by police at the scene indicated his intentions.

The coroner, Dr Elizabeth Earland, therefore ruled that Mr Walker had hanged himself sometime between June 6 and June 13.

Dr Earland recorded a verdict of suicide.
