Good news for Memory Matters group

A previously closure-threatened Topsham dementia support group says it will be able to keep going after all, following a successful open day.
The organisers of Memory Matters, which meets at The Mede, held the event on Monday, having recently revealed that if new members did not join it would not be financially viable.
However, the event on Monday proved to be such a success, that not only will the group be able to continue, it could even open an extra weekly session.
Mede owner and group volunteer Sallie Rutledge said around 25 people had attended, experiencing the group’s sessions and enjoying a home-cooked lunch.
She said: “We were really pleased. We are now able to run, and will continue to run, and we have also potentially got enough people so we might be able to set up a second day.”
Sallie added that the group would like to thank Waitrose for donating the food for the lunch.
Memory Matters will be holding its weekly Monday sessions from September 1, excluding bank holidays.

Each participant’s first session is free to attend.
